Hi Everyone,

Well, it’s finally time to send out my top secret smoke signals to you, my dear collaborators. I’m hoping you’ll all help me propose to meester by mailing something cherry-themed to him at the end of May/beginning of June. I am so excited about this, and I am so thrilled that you will all be helping!

Without any further ado, here’s the plan:

When: Starting Memorial Day Weekend and the first week of June (time dependent on how nearby you are, I guess)

Who: You!

What: Something cherry-related (see below for ideas)

Because this all hinges on him precipitating the event itself, I don’t know exactly when the proposal will happen, but I will send an email to this list after it does (hopefully with pictures of the cherry wood engagement ring on his finger).

What to send:

1. Send something unrelated to proposals/weddings (don’t make it a cherry ring pop, don’t make it something that says “say yes,” or “marry intimidating” or anything like that) so that he has to ask me (and/or you) what’s going on.

2. Send something you can justify having sent him if he calls/emails to ask you about it, as this whole plan hinges on him being confused and/or amused by something strange and telling or asking me about it. (In other words, what you send should either be relevant to the two of you, or you should have a good lie ready. You can always claim it’s a housewarming present, if you want, as long as it was sent to him.)

3. Most importantly, send something cherry-themed (this can include all sorts of things, such as: cherry-printed frisbee, black cherry soda, cupcake with a cherry on top, jar of maraschino cherries, cherry temporary tattoo, cherry-smoked bacon, cherry wood cutting board or kitchen utensil, sour cherry lambic, cherry jam, cherry printed apron, cherry blossom tea, cherry nightlight, cherry candle, cherry candy (jelly beans, cordials, whatever), cherry pitter, cherry juice/syrup, Cherry Popping Daddies CD (he has Zoot Suit Riot already), cherry pie larabar (his favorite), rockabilly something, Pac Man cherries, etc.)

4. Don’t let me dictate too much, though, I want you guys to have your own say and to have fun with this.

5. Don’t let this break the bank, either. Let the concepts of small, cheap, silly, and random be your guides if you’re stuck on an idea.
