PromiseRing

Page history last edited by PBworks 18 years ago

meester and I both wear chainmail bracelets on or left wrists. I bought the original two my sophomore year of college (our second year of dating), as a Valentine's gift. At the time, I wore too many rings for a promise ring from meester to stand out properly. Besides which, a chainmail bracelet seemed better to signify what we were about back then -- protecting each other and not being "traditional," while that symbolism is a tad bit hackneyed at this point, he and I both still wear our bracelets all the time.

That said, we never gave up on rings. meester's ring is a simple claddagh, bought from a street stand in New York City at some point. It's too big for him, and needs to be taken off a lot -- dishwashing, frisbee, house-cleaning, etc. -- which is no fun. Since he and I started wearing rings for each other, he's had quite a few: some stone, some silver, some just plain odd (spin-y middle part with dolphins on it, etc.).

My ring has only changed twice since we started dating, though meester has had at least 5. Both of my rings have been amber and silver, the first one was two round/flat-backed amber pieces off a single simple circle ring, and the second is a sphere of amber held between a twisted ring. I'm not sure why I've ended up with amber both times, but I love it.

I've noticed the bracelets and kept meaning to ask! Nice to finally know the explanation. I like it.
