June 9:

Gifts have arrived since the proposal, and I wanted everyone to know they were safe and sound. Ry received juicy cherry & cherry lemonade-scented candles yesterday (Thank you, BHS & LHS!), and a package just arrived from the badgers (Thank you, JoB & LH!), which I think may have canned cherries from their tree. You all are so amazing!!!!

June 7:

I am attempting to conduct my usual business like a sane human being, but I keep being overwhelmed by the fabulousness that is this engagement. Thank you, again, to my dear co-collaborators in this scheme, for helping me do this. All of your input, support, and love, and all of your gifts and well wishes, have made this far more amazing than I could have imagined. Thank you so much!!! (I love you, Ry!)

-Meg

Later June 6:

Yes, the meester is quite oblivious.

But he finally does catch on.

...

I'll get you all for this! ^_^

June 6:

Nothing arrived for him yesterday, making it hard to prod him toward the conclusion. I am SO very nervous and excited that it's beginning to be obvious to him. Hmm... maybe Thursday? Thursday sounds like a good time to set an end time for this.

ETA: I just got home (before meester) and there are 3 gifts waiting for him!!! I'm guessing they are the offerings from CGT, NLG, and A(SH)L. Yay!!!

June 5:

Over the weekend, he got: a cherry wood CD case (Thanks, JG!), cherry wood kitchen utensils (Thanks, KSH!), a cherry pitter (Thanks, LGT!), a bottle of Alsatian kirschwasser carried over from Germany (Thanks ALPG!), a bottle of maraschino liqueur (Thanks TH!). He has finally begun commenting on the volume of gifts, as well as the oddity of choices. He doesn't seem to have noticed the theme yet.

I am beginning to get antsy, and he is beginning to suspect that something is afoot. We're having a hosuewarming party on Saturday, and I decided it would also be a birthday party, and my hope, my ever-optimistic hope, is that it will also be an engagement party. His ring is wrapped and hidden in my closet, covered in cherry blossom paper, of course.

June 2:

He's gotten 3 more gifts, homemade cherry wood napkin rings (Thanks, DSH!) and cutting board (Thanks, LSH!) from his parents, and, a cherry pepper plant (Thanks, AT!). Besides saying that his parents' gifts made him tear up, he hasn't indicated that he's noticed a theme, or even that the number of gifts is surprising.

He is, however, beginning to notice that no one's given him a gift in person, as he wondered why people weren't waiting for our housewarming party.

Thurs June 1:

He's gotten 2 gifts so far, a bottle of cherry lambic (thanks AB!) and a jar of cherries in kirsch (thanks AG!). Both gifted by people from whom he would not have expected gifts, but he seems to be taking them in stride.

In addition, I've replaced many things in our kitchen with cherry-flavored options (cherry concentrate instead of OJ, cherry lara and luna bars instead of the usual chai & apple flavors, dried cherries instead of cranberries, cherry jam instead of the next jar in our lineup, etc.), and he hasn't noticed/commented on that yet, either.

What a space cadet. More gifts are expected today, and over the next few days, so we'll see how this pans out.
